Kaj Grussner, Head of KPMG Finland’s Family Office

I joined KPMG in 2007 and work routinely with both domestic and foreign clients in a wide range of industries, including financial services and real estate.

In 2008, I co-founded KPMG Finland’s Withholding Tax Practice, which assisted both domestic and foreign institutional investors in reclaiming withholding tax suffered on foreign source dividends.

I am currently representing Keva and other Finnish public pension institutions in their case against Sweden, which is pending for the European Court of Justice.

During 2010-2013, I was the subject matter expert on FATCA in four full scale impact assessments for four Finnish financial groups, and have continued to advice clients on FATCA and CRS related matters. In 2015, I founded KPMG Finland’s Real Estate Tax Practice, which has grown into one of the most significant segments of KPMG Tax.

In 2018, I became head of KPMG Finland’s Family Office practice, which focuses on family wealth planning, successions, trust structures, family foundations and issues that relate to the family business and/or the family wealth. This includes i.a. drafting plans for future successions and execution of those plans, reorganizing the ownership structure of family businesses, creating family investment structures, establishing a trust structures and charitable foundations, but assisting clients with family wealth related tax audits and litigation.
